The European Union cannot be blackmailed, Schinas says
NewsroomEuropean Commission Vice-President Margaritis Schinas, in an interview with Alpha TV late on Tuesday, sent a clear message to Turkey that the European Union cannot be blackmailed.
Referring to the escalation of Turkish provocations against Greece but also the measures that the EU is examining, he noted: "No one can blackmail or intimidate the EU with threats or shouting. We are looking for a way to give Turkey one last chance."
If we find ourselves in such a situation on the 25th, it makes sense to impose sanctions. At the moment, the whole network of sanctions is on the table," he said. When asked what will be the sanction that will hurt the most, he replied: "The sanctions that hurt the most are the sanctions that are not announced in advance, they are the sanctions that are decided and adopted."
