The Vice President of the European Commission and European Commissioner for Promoting the European Way of Life Margaritis Schinas will be received by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Friday at noon, at the Maximos Mansion. At 14:00, Schinas will be received by the President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou.

"Moria is here to remind Europe that we need to change, as it is inconceivable that Europe does not yet have a single coherent migration policy," Schinas said, speaking from the island of Lesvos on Thursday.

"We are a family of 27 countries, we are the largest market in the world, we have 25 pct of the world's wealth, it is inconceivable that Europe does not yet have a unified migration policy," the Commissioner underlined.

He announced that the new EU Pact on Migration & Asylum will be presented in September and seek to put an end to this unacceptable situation, noting that it is no longer acceptable for some EU member-states to carry a disproportionate share of the burden for everyone else.

"The time is now and Europe will always be clear that Moria symbolises what needs to change," he said.
