The investment project in the land, premises and facilities of the former Athens Airport of Hellinikon is "in the final stages", according to a press release by Minister of State Alekos Flambouraris.

The announcement followed a Friday meeting in the Prime Ministerial Maximos Mansion which looked into the course of the investment, in the presence of Minister of State Alekos Flambouraris, the coordinator of the project Theopisti Perka, and the leadership of both the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund, which is in charge of the investment, and Hellinikon SA, which manages the project site.

Specifically, it was announced that the public consultation on the environmental impact assessment was completed on May 14, and the presentation of the studies for the approval of the required joint ministerial decisions was completed on May 17. Moreover, the relevant parties clarified the next steps towards the successful completion of the international tenders for a casino on the Hellinikon site, and discussed actions regarding the demolition of arbitrary buildings on the Hellinikon's sea front.

"The government estimates that completion of the investment in the Metropolitan Axis of Hellenikon-Agios Kosmas is within schedule and will be completed under the SYRIZA government," said Flambouraris.
