State Minister and government spokesman Dimitris Tzanakopoulos on Monday highlighted the need for a serious and in-depth political confrontation and discussion between ruling SYRIZA and main opposition New Democracy (ND) during the election campaign, which will demonstrate the differences between the two political parties.

Speaking to ANT1 TV, he also asserted that the economic policies that ND is planning to implement are "extremely dangerous" and may return the country to "memorandum conditions".

Referring to SYRIZA's programme for the next four years, which is to be present Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras on Monday evening, he said that it is a programme addressed to all Greeks and based on four pillars.

According to Tzanakopoulos, the first pillar concerns the labour market and the creation of more and better jobs with higher wages. The second concerns taxation, with targeted tax relief measures that will multiply in the coming years. The third pillar calls for a more efficient state sector and the fourth concerns the social state, healthcare, education and welfare.
