Mitsotakis a synonym for social and economic destabilisation, Pappas says

"The possibility that New Democracy (ND) may come first [in the elections] is a possibility fraught with social, political and economic destabilisation," Minister of Digital Policy, Telecommunications and Media Nikos Pappas said on Wednesday, in an interview with public broadcaster ERT3.

Regarding the cancellation of the party leaders' televised debate, he said that ND leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis was afraid that the real aspects of his programme will be revealed to the Greek people.

"A debate is demanded by those not afraid of the truth," Pappas said, adding that the country has entered into positive recovery rates with nine consecutive quarters of growth, a fall in unemployment, 400,000 new jobs and a rise in wages, while it has a "a very comprehensive plan for tax relief."

If New Democracy is elected, he added, "we will have a scenario of horror, a scenario of a reintroduction of IMF policies," he said, pointing out that this "nightmarish" scenario must be avoided.
