SYRIZA sources: ND's efforts to distort our achievements have failed
NewsroomMain opposition SYRIZA on Tuesday accused New Democracy (ND) of distorting reality purposely, following a European Commission statement a year after the conclusion of the fiscal adjustment program in August 2018 that said Greece was on a healthy economic path.
The sources quoted Valdis Dombrovskis, vice-president for the Euro and Social Dialog, in the statement as saying that Greece's growth is "steady, unemployment is going down and public finances have improved."
"Distorting reality appears to be a deliberate choice and a fixed way of approaching the public," Syriza sources said about ruling ND, citing the European Commission statement on Greece's improved numbers. The statement, sources said, justify Syriza's efforts for the economy during its governance and tear down ND's efforts attribute to Syriza a so-called catastrophic economic policy.
