Government sources on SYRIZA's comment concerning the Parthenon marbles

Reacting to a post by main opposition SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras on Facebook on Tuesday, concerning the Parthenon Marbles, government sources said:

"Mr Tsipras is not a commentator on current affairs. He is a former prime minister. What initiatives did he undertake over the four years of his term, apart from some general statements on this issue? None. Kyriakos Mitsotakis, with his specific initiative, returned the issue of the Parthenon marbles to the forefront. If Mr Tsipras was really interested in the issue and not in mounting a cheap opposition, he would have read that the prime minister's statements clearly state that 'our demand for the marbles' return fully applies' and that the British Museum 'is fighting a lost battle.' Instead of distorting Mr Mitsotakis' proposals, let him contribute in any way he can to the realisation of the Greek demand."
