SYRIZA accuses gov't of policy without orientation and strategy

Newsroom

SYRIZA on Friday accused the government of a policy 'without orientation and strategy' against the increasing Turkish provocations and set a series of questions and remarks.

In an announcement on the recent Turkish provocations, main opposition SYRIZA said:

-The refugee-migrant flows are rapidly multiplying and we are in the middle of the winter

-Turkey's rhetoric regarding the flows, the Aegean and Cyprus is getting more and more agressive

-The violations in the Aegean have peaked

-The illegal Turkish drilling in Cyprus' EEX is expanding

-Turkey makes an illegal agreement with Libya on Greek sea zones

-Turkey presents for the first time continental shelf coordinates with Egypt which do not comply with the international law

After all the above, SYRIZA is asking someone from the government to say if "Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis' meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in September was successful" and if "the unacceptable strategy to appease Turkey in the Aegean and in Cyprus with the hope it will help in the refugees issue, was also successful".

SYRIZA underlined that "it is imperative to abadon the practice of the passive observator and the country return to an active foreign policy in terms of EuroTurkish relations in the context of the European sanctions and essential dialogue".
