President Pavlopoulos sends congratulations letter to Ursula van der Leyen and Margaritis Schinas
NewsroomPresident of Republic Prokopios Pavlopoulos referred to a series of issues concerning Europe in his letters of congratulations to the new president of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and to vice president Margaritis Schinas on Friday.
In his letter, the Greek president sent his congratulations and his wishes for success in their mission and asked for solidarity in the major issue of migration.
«You are called to lead the European Commission in a difficult period of rapid globalisation during which the people of Europe and the state members can retain their position in the world only if they remain united and promote the European integration. The rise of populism in Europe clearly indicates the urgent need for effective measure for the further deepening of the Union», Pavlopoulos said in his letter to the newly appointed president.
«Your experience and your genuine devotion to the European integration as well as your highly-qualified associates guarantee that the term of your Commission will be fruitful».
In his letter to Schinas, the Greek president congratulated him and sent his wishes for success in his mission.
