SYRIZA criticizes government on handling of confidence-building talks with Turkey

Newsroom

Main opposition party SYRIZA on Tuesday said the government is characterized by "unprecedented irresponsibility" concerning the reported suspension of Confidence-Building Measures (CBMs) with Turkey.

"On the eve of the prime minister's meeting with the Turkish president, the national defense ministry announces the suspension of CBMs with Turkey, and a few hours later Maximos Mansion tells the press that CBMs carry on as usual," reads SYRIZA's statement, referring to an upcoming meeting on the sidelines of NATO's summit in London.

"This is not a picture of a serious government," assumed SYRIZA.

The party's statement concluded by saying that "issues of national significance, especially Greek-Turkish relations, are too serious a matter to he handled by the Mitsotakis government with unprecedented irresponsibility."
