"For 4.5 years and despite the huge difficulties, SYRIZA government achieved to get the city of Ioannina and the region of Epirus out of isolation," stated main opposition SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras at his arrival at Ioannina airport on Wednesday.

Tsipras is visiting the cities of Ioannina and Arta in the context of the democratic call for joining SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance.

"There were substantial works for the support of the social infrastructure, the university hospital, the local health units, new university schools as well as Ionia Odos which brought the region of Epirus closer to the rest of Greece," said Tsipras.

He criticised Mitsotakis' government of being engaged exclusively with communication and not with essence. "We see how it has addressed crucial national issues, not only the Greek-Turkish relations but also the migration issue, where the expectations and promises are proved elusive."

The main opposition leader said that SYRIZA's estimation before the general elections that the people and the country have nothing to gain from Mitsotakis' government is being confirmed.
