Strong earthquake measuring 6.3 Richter shakes Elassona, Larissa

A strong earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale, with an epicentre 21 km south-southwest of Elassona in Larissa, shook central Greece at 12:16 on Wednesday. It was followed by a second quake measuring 4.4 Richter three minutes later, with an epicentre 7.0 km from Elassona.

The earthquake was strongly felt in Larissa and the surrounding area, while Elassona mayor Nikos Gatas said he has already given orders to begin checking public and municipal buildings for possible damage.
