Nearly 120,000 people in the 30-39 age group have signed up to get vaccinated since the platform opened for them on Tuesday, State Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis told Skai 100.3 FM on Thursday, and 12,000 have already been vaccinated.

In addition, since the opening on Wednesday night for the 40-44 age group, 43,710 people have signed up "and what is most impressive is that more than 500 of them have already been vaccinated," the minister said.

He acknowledged however that "our big problem" is people of older age groups, whose vaccination rates remain lower than expected.

In terms of bed-ridden people, they would become eligible for vaccination at home with the one-shot vaccine of Johnson & Johnson, which will be available in greater numbers as of the middle of May, he said.

Besides the above groups and those of 60-or-over, vaccination appointments are currently also open for people aged 50-59. On Saturday, appointments will open for the 45-49 age group. Good Friday (April 30) will be the last day for vaccinations, however, as the vaccine centers will be shut down over Orthodox Easter weekend
