FM Katrougalos: Voting for our lives and those of our children, on Sunday
NewsroomTurkey may "maintain and occasionally escalate tension in the Aegean," Foreign Minister George Katrougalos said on Friday, "but it does not seek to create a military incident in the Aegean."
Speaking to Athens-Macedonian News Agency, he added that the diplomatic alliances and the Greek military forces strength do not leave any room for opportunism".
Katrougalos underlined that "Greece always remains vigilant to prevent any possibility of an 'accident' and we are seeking the de-escalation of tension by continuing talks for the implementation of the Confidence Building Measures."
He said that a upset in the elections result on Sunday is possible because the stake is totally different from that at the European elections. "This time we are voting for our lives and the lives of our children. The result will tell if hope remains alive or we return to practices that destroyed the country".
Concluding, Katrougalos said, "Voters will have to choose between continuing on a trajectory of growth for all or for a few; between continuing democratic reforms and expanding individual rights; and between reinstating the Right with unprecedented neoliberal and far-right features.".
