Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias had a cordial meeting with his Cypriot counterpart Nikos Christodoulides in Brussels on Monday, on the sidelines of the EU Foreign Affairs Council, the Greek foreign ministry said in a post on Twitter.

According to a statement by the Cypriot foreign ministry, meanwhile, the meeting reaffirmed the excellent level of cooperation between the two countries, with the two ministers underlining their commitment to continue deepening close cooperation, both bilaterally and on a European level.

The importance of joint action between Cyprus and Greece, in the context of regional trilateral partnerships, as well as of the Mediterranean EU Member-States (MED-7) was also stressed.

Christodoulides briefed Dendias on current developments in the Cyprus issue and the ongoing Turkish drilling in Cyprus' Exclusive Economic Zone. The two foreign ministers agreed to stay in constant contact, on both political and staff levels, for both coordination and joint action on an international level.

According to Cyprus' ministerial announcement, Christodoulides and Dendias will have the opportunity to hold extended talks when the Greek FM will accompany premier Kyriakos Mitsotakis on an official visit to Cyprus in the near future.
