PM Mitsotakis: The Τrilateral Summit condemned Turkish aggressiveness
NewsroomWays to further promote economic and energy relations between Greece, Cyprus and Egypt were discussed at the 7th Trilateral Summit held in Cairo on Tuesday. According to Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, this served as proof of the strengthening of ties between the three countries.
Mitsotakis made a special reference to the Cyprus issue and Turkey's provocative behaviour. He noted that Greece and Egypt expressed their full support for a viable and just solution of the Cyprus issue, based on a bicommunal, bizonal federation in accordance with UN resolutions and without occupation troops or guarantees.
"We unequivocally condemned Turkey's illegal actions in Cyprus' Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ), which violate international law, and condemned its provocative stance in the Aegean," stated Mitsotakis.
According to the Greek premier, the three leaders discussed statements made by Turkish officials about the abandoned resort of Varosha in Famagusta, as well as the fact that Turkey proceeded with yet more illegal drilling in plot 7 of Cyprus' EEZ. "We are in constant communication with our European and international allies [on this issue]," he underlined.
