The Eurogroup has been suspended and will continue on Thursday, Eurogroup President Mario Centeno posted on Twitter on Wednesday. "Αfter 16h of discussions we came close to a deal but we are not there yet," Centeno said.

"I suspended the Eurogroup & continue tomorrow. My goal remains: A strong EU safety net against fallout of covid19 (to shield workers, firms & countries) and commit/ to a sizeable recovery plan," he added.

Differences at the Eurogroup to be bridged by Thursday, Staikouras says

There are still differences between the eurozone member-states, despite significant progress, but they are expected to be solved by Thursday, Finance Minister Christos Staikouras said on Wednesday to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency.

The Minister's statement reads as follows:

"The Eurogroup meeting did not reach an agreement, despite significant progress on a more ambitious package of measures to address the health crisis and the subsequent recovery of the economy. There are still differences, which it is estimated will be bridged by tomorrow."
