Prosecutor in Golden Dawn trial recommends release pending appeal, except for Roupakias
Economou said the court should accept their requests for a suspended sentence🕛 χρόνος ανάγνωσης: 1 λεπτό ┋

The prosecutor in the Golden Dawn trial, Adamantia Economou, on Monday recommended that most of the defendants that were handed down prison sentences by the court be released with restrictions until their appeal goes to trial, with the exception of Giorgos Roupakias, the man who murdered Pavlos Fyssas.
Economou said the court should accept their requests for a suspended sentence, citing reasons such as their fixed address, their strict observance of the restrictions already imposed on them and their lack of preparation to flee, meaning they are not a flight risk.
She also noted that there was no evidence that they had committed additional offences and that most have no previous criminal record. She went on to list those that do have a criminal record, such as Golden Dawn leader Nikos Michaloliakos, who was sentenced for a 1979 bomb attack.
Following her address, the court went into recess and will continue with the second round of arguments by the defence lawyers.
