"The situation at our border is not only Greece’s issue to manage. It is the responsibility of Europe as a whole," the European Commission posted on Twitter late on Tuesday. "And we will manage it in an orderly way, with unity, solidarity and determination," it added.
In the video accompanying the tweet, there were snapshots of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Charles Michel's visit to Evros, and their meeting with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. "Our presence today sends a strong message to the Greek people, European citizens and the international community. The Greek border is the European border. We fully support the Greek efforts and will do whatever it takes to help. Protecting the borders with respect for international law, human rights and dignity is necessary," the video captions state.
