The strong earthquake that struck Attica midday on Friday did not result in damage to sites or museums in the region, except for the Monastery of Dafni, the Ministry of Culture said on Friday.
Following a 5.1 earthquake on the Richter scale, Culture Minister Lina Mendoni paid a visit to the National Archaeological Museum in Athens and was informed that the only issue was some shifting of small objects in glass cases and some plaster falling.
A man who panicked hit inadvertently a pregnant tourist, who was cared for by the emergency ambulance service (EKAV).
The Acropolis and Eleusis sites reported no problems, but a section of the Dafni historical monastery's northern wall fell. Some of the plaster in the main section of the church had problems, but the Byzantine mosaics were not damaged, at least at first look.
The ministry will be informed of any reports coming in to the ephorates about damage.
